Wells Electric installed a whole house generator 9 months and 2 power outages ago. All went well. Gas and electric power into my house were on the opposite side of where I wanted the generator placed. No problem. Wells Electric Service installed a 26kw Generac whole house standby generator in December 2025. We previously used a 8kw portable generator which hooked to a transfer switch via a 30 amp cable. Due to its capacity it could only run a few critical appliances, which did not include the HVAC system, and the portable generator began to wear out over time. Therefore, due to the frequency of recent outages and the amount of time we travel during the year we decided to install a whole house system to be worry free. Wells Electric removed the old transfer switch and replaced it with two, 200 amp transfer switches since we have 400 amp service. Our breaker boxes were completely rewired and load shed modules were installed on a few high energy items (i.e. range, HVAC, EV charger, etc.) which enabled a smaller generator to be installed thereby saving us money. I cannot say enough about the quality of Wells Electric Service’s (Sherm's) work. He worked through cold and rain, was extremely knowledgeable and customer focused and he even tidied up my breaker boxes going beyond the call of duty. Although we have not yet experienced any power outages since installation, we were able to experience an outage simulation during the county inspection. The generator kicked on in about 20 seconds, after the inspector turned off the power, and the entire house was powered. Wells Electric installed a home generator at our new house.  Sales, customer service and techs were all excellent.  The installation was done perfectly.  From the placemet of the generator and transfer switch to the black iron pipe used to supply natural gas, it was all done exactally right.  No messes to clean up and all our questions were answered.
